Explore the UpdateSmartGym Intelligence
We built SmartGym Intelligence, our own private cloud for frontier models, integrated with Apple's Foundation Models framework. Every request is anonymous, and prompts are never logged, cached, or retained by SmartGym. AI labs never receive your prompts, and nothing you submit is used to train their models.
Workout creation with natural language
SmartGym Intelligence enables the ability to create a complete, personalized workout using natural language.
Simply describe what you want. Tell SmartGym your goal, how often you want to train, which muscles you want to focus on, how much time you have, or anything else that matters to you.
SmartGym already knows your experience level and the equipment you have available, so every request is automatically adapted to you.
Natural language on Apple Watch
SmartGym's Apple Watch app works independently from iPhone, and now it can create complete, personalized workouts with natural language too. It connects to SmartGym Intelligence directly from the Watch, without an iPhone.
All from a device on your wrist. It sounds almost impossible until you use it. Then it immediately feels obvious. This is a glimpse of what the future of personal fitness looks like, and of how powerful Apple Watch can become as a device for artificial intelligence.
Don't like something? Just ask.
After SmartGym creates your workout, you can ask for changes on iPhone or Apple Watch: move a routine to another day, add exercises for a muscle group, remove one you don't like, or add something you forgot. SmartGym refines the workout it already created instead of starting over.
Siri AI
SmartGym now integrates deeply with the new Siri experience through app schemas and App Intents. Ask Siri about your routines, schedule, exercises, equipment, or muscle groups to see the answer inline, and tap it to open that routine or exercise in SmartGym.
Rich visual information
Siri can now show rich, visual workout information from SmartGym without opening the app. Use your voice to bring up your Workout Summary, recent training history, muscle recovery, goals, and more.
Create a workout with Siri
Creating a workout is a lot easier with Siri. Say "Create a new workout in SmartGym" and Siri asks each Smart Trainer question in turn, or takes your natural language prompt. When it's ready, SmartGym opens on the correct screen so you can review it.
Workout metrics with Siri
A request like "Show my Heart Rates in SmartGym" prompts Siri to ask whether you want the minimum, maximum, or average, and for which period. Many of the metrics SmartGym tracks work this way, including duration, workout volume, and calories burned.
Hands-free training
Say "Start Today's Workout with SmartGym" and SmartGym opens today's scheduled routine and starts the workout. Then control it with "Log Set in SmartGym" or "Next Exercise in SmartGym", or say "Next step in SmartGym" and Smart Action works out what should happen next and does it.
Siri understands what's on screen
We added semantic annotations to SmartGym's interface, so Siri understands the routines, exercises, and sets on your screen. Ask "What's the third routine on screen?" and then say "Open it". During a workout, ask what your next set is, then tell Siri to log it.
Workouts from plain text
SmartGym can already turn a workout written in plain text into a structured routine. Now you can write or dictate a workout with Siri, or have it convert one from an image, then ask Siri to save it to SmartGym.
Exercise questions with images
Last year we added a way to ask questions about each of the 730+ exercises in the library. Now the on-device Foundation Models also receive the images showing how the exercise is performed, which produces better answers.
Resizable UI
SmartGym for iPad already supports multiple windows that you can resize to virtually any size. Now SmartGym adapts its interface to the shape of your screen, whether it's portrait, landscape, square, or something else entirely.
Liquid Glass refinements
More elements in SmartGym now use Liquid Glass. We rebuilt our custom segmented control with it, made the muscle group picker more vibrant and expressive, brought our custom alerts into the same visual language, and redesigned the duration timer for the new system.
Available on every Apple platform
SmartGym 8 launches alongside iOS 27. Available on iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Mac, and visionOS.
